Soo Kim was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. In 1999, she moved to NY. She received a BFA in graphic design in Fashion Institute of Technology in 2003, and studied Illustration and Fine Art in Parsons School of Design, and earned a BFA in 2008.

Her poetic drawings and paintings often convey a vague story line, with a hint of mystic sense, and evoke emotional responds from viewers. The main theme that keeps revolving around her art work is exploration on different ways of communication and interaction between people.

Traveling is a big  inspiration  for her work process. She has traveled to all over the country in The States, Canada, and various European countries. She admires classical Dutch, and Belgian paintings, and her work often draws melancholy mood that is inspired by her interest  in Romanticism era.

She has exhibited her work in NYC, Tokyo, and Berlin, and her work has been published in international magazines, and publications.
