Soo K. Kim was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. When she was attending Jr. high school, her family spent a year of briefly living in Missouri, because of her father’s job as a Journalist for a Korean Newspaper. During that time, they had several road trips across the country. They drove all the way from East Coast to West Coast in a family van. Being close to nature, such as camping in the woods in her youth had developed  her imagination.
In 1999, her family moved to New York from Seoul Korea. Soo enrolled in Fashion Institute of Technology, and earned a BFA degree studying graphic design in 2003. She also studied illustration from Parsons School of  Design, and earned a BFA.
Soo is a natural story teller, whose work often draws a melancholy mood. Literature has been very influential to her work. Being sensitive to use of words, she enjoys writing fictional stories, creating characters, developing personalities, and writing a short dialogue. She is also inspired by Surrealism, and classic Flemish paintings.
Soo loves traveling, and has traveled to many countries in Europe,  most parts of Korea, and The United States.
Her work has been published in many international magazines, publications. She has had exhibitions in NYC, Tokyo, and Berlin, and now works and lives in New York.
